I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 14th instant, and in reply to say that Mr.Franz Ens did not furnish his Certificate of Naturalization as a British subjject in Connec- tion with his application for patent for his home- stead. The North West 1/4 of Section 18, Township 40, Range 4, West of the 3rd Meridian, but claimed to be a British subject through the naturalization of his father, Franz Ens, who obtained patent for his homestead, South West 1/4 of Section 14, Township 1, Range 5, West of the Principal Meridian, in May, 1886. As Franz Ens was a minor at the time his father was naturalized a British subject in April, 1883, it was not necessary for him to obtain a Certificate of Naturalization in his own name.
